The navigational echo sounder provides reliable information about the water depth under the keel to aid navigation, which is especially relevant in shallow water.
All ships of 300 gross tonnage and upwards and passenger ships irrespective of size shall be fitted with an echo sounding device, or other electronic means, to measure and display the available depth of water.
The echo sounder should function at all forward speeds from 0 to 30 knots
Under normal propagation and sea bed reflectibility conditions the equipment should be capable of measuring any clearance under the transducer between 2 m and 200 m.
The equipment should provide a minimum of two rande scales one of which, the shallow range, should cover a range of 20 m, and the other, the deep range, should cover a range of 200 m.
The primary presentation should be a suitable graphical display which provide the immediate depth and a visible record of sounding.
The pulse repetitionrate should not be slower than 12 pulses per minute on the deep range and 36 pulses per minute on the shallow range.
The graphical display should be capable of showing:
depth marks at intervals not larger than one-tenth of te range/scale in use; and
time marks at intervals not exceeding 5 min.
We offer you ship navigational echo sounders from various manufacturers, including Samyung,JRC, “Marine Technics”. To order echo sounders or for service information, you can use the form below or .
